• You have a duty of care to carry out a regular fire safety check due to the nature and occupancy of your business.
    • You’ve moved to a new premises and need to evaluate the building’s fire hazards and safety requirements.
    • You have carried out a building renovation or extension and need to know if your building is still adequately protected.
    • You want to exercise due diligence in the event a fire does break out in your commercial premises, and have the best chance of an insurance claim being successful.

Your report will summarise the extent of all fire hazards and the precautions in place to defend against these hazards. If your premises is deemed to be non-compliant with UK Fire Safety Law then you will be provided with recommendations to modify your building’s fire safety strategy, which we can then help you implement.

  • Stay Legally Compliant By:

    • Having a fire risk assessment which is up-to-date and reflective of your building’s current state.
    • Carrying out the recommended works needed to keep your building safe and compliant with UK Fire Safety Law.
    • Designating a ‘responsible person’ on site who understands how to use the fire safety equipment, e.g. the fire detection alarm system.
    • Implementing an emergency fire evacuation plan and providing adequate fire safety training for nominated staff members.
  • Risk Assessments Explained:

A fire risk assessment is a statutory evaluation which assesses the building environment’s hazards, the likelihood of a fire occurring and the likely outcome of a fire occurring depending on the precautionary products and services put in place.

The reality of not carrying out a fire risk assessment is that you could be fined and/or jailed for non-compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Not to mention you’d be putting your building, staff and yourself at unnecessary risk by not checking that the infrastructure you have in place can minimise the loss and damage in the event of a fire.

Fire brigades have been carrying out spot-checks across the UK for some time now, and there have been more prohibition orders and prosecutions due to non-compliance. Fire risk assessments can be done by the building’s designated ‘responsible person’, however if this person doesn’t know what they’re looking for and does not understand the procedure, they will be completely liable. Getting an experienced fire risk assessor to do the job will mean that liability will be shared between the assessor and the building’s responsible person.
