Do You Need Fire Alarm Maintenance?

Businesses and commercial premises require fire alarm maintenance to stay legally compliant with UK Fire Safety Law. You will need to hire an accredited company to carry out a fire alarm maintenance service of your system every six months, as specified by British Standards (BS 5839-1:2017).

IN ORDER TO STAY LEGALLY COMPLIANT, YOU MUST HAVE:

  1. A maintenance service of your fire alarm every six months carried out as a minimum requirement.
  2. Any necessary remedial works carried out to ensure your system remains both functional and compliant.
  3. These services to be carried out by a competent specialist (preferably by those who are third-party certified for working on fire alarm systems), i.e. WFP Engineers.

HOW FIRE ALARM MAINTENANCE WORKS:

We will visit your site at a convenient time for you and at our maintenance visits, we’ll check and test the following before issuing you with a certificate report and any recommendations to be carried out:

  • Battery condition
  • Accuracy of zone plans
  • Heat and smoke detectors
  • Efficacy of response actions
  • Manual call points and zones
  • Radio signals (if radio/wireless)
  • Control panel functions and visuals
  • Any false alarms requiring investigation
  • Fabric of the building for changes affecting fire alarm compatibility

If you have emergency lights, fire extinguishers or other fire safety products in place to protect your building, we can maintain these for you as well!
