Save money on buildings insurance with BAFE certification

The Cost of Maintenance

INSURANCE DISCOUNTS

As the responsible person at the business you may be fully aware of the responsibility for fire safety within your business, however do you realise that this includes the choice of fire alarm company. Under the RRO (regulatory reform order) you will be encouraged to use a BAFE approved company.  Insurance companies have recognised the difference in quality between BAFE and un-regulated and this could save you money!

We have found an article in the FSE (Fire Safety Engineering) which shows the start of insurance companies recognising the quality provided by BAFE SP203 registered companies. (yes WFP is a BAFE approved company)

I thought by passing on the details in this blog entry it would allow the discerning new customer to build a picture of the type of company we are and the obvious and logical reasons for using a business that is prepared to be audited by and comply with a set of rules that others ignore at their peril (however this is more important to the client as if you choose to us a non approved company then under the RRO (regulatory reform order) -  you (as the responsible person) are liable for that choice.

An extract from the FSE journal is below;

A discount on property insurance premiums of up to 30% is being offered is being offered to customers who have a fire detection and alarm system designed, installed and commissioned by a BAFE certificated company.

The initiative comes from Security Industries Special Service of Oakhampton and follows the company’s attendance at an NSI-CFOA seminar held earlier this year. SISS have negotiated a discount with Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) through a facility administered by Contessa Underwriting Ltd. This offers a 10% discount off standard book rates for each module of the fire detection and alarm system that is certificated through the BAFE SP203 scheme. Therefore a customer who has a system that is certificated for the design, installation and commissioning modules would receive a 30% discount.

Linda Harris, buisness develpment manager, commented: “We have always supported high standards in the security industry  and now welcome the opportunity to do the same for the fire sector. We clearly see the benefits in rewarding clients who take reducing risk seriously by contracting fire alarm installers who can prove their competence through the BAFE SP203 scheme.”
